Cyclist lays bike down
The driver of this 2005 Harley Davidson was injured when he was forced to lay the bike down while southbound on Stagecoach Road, about a mile south of Highview near 230th Street, early Tuesday afternoon. Gary E. Hupka, 58, Lincoln, Neb., was travelling in a small group of cycles when at least two of them attempted to pass a semitruck and trailer. The driver of the cycle in front of Hupka decided not to pass, prompting Hupka to put the bike down to avoid a collision with his fellow cyclist. While the bike came to rest on the west shoulder, Hupka slid down the road and came to rest on the east shoulder of the road, according to Hamilton County Sheriff’s reports. He was transported to Hamilton Hospital for treatment. No further information on his condition was available.
Above, Deputies Joe Bosch and Scott McConnell check look over the bike for registration and insurance papers, as well as damage, following the accident.
