Epps named outstanding major
Rachel Roth and Kayleigh Epps
Iowa Wesleyan College students Kayleigh Epps, Webster City, and Rachel Roth, Burlington, were honored as “Outstanding Majors of the Year” for Exercise Science and Physical Education by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding students majoring in disciplines related to health, physical education, exercise science, recreation, dance or sport from colleges and universities throughout the country.
This year, 200 students were honored at the ceremony and reception during the Annual Convention of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in Fort Worth, Texas April 8-12. Keynote speaker at the award ceremony was Beth Kirkpatrick, Executive Director of Polar Heart Rate Electro, Inc., and awarded each outstanding major a polar heart rate monitor.
The girls were accompanied by Professor Valerie Unkrich who nominated them for the award.
Card shower planned
Ethel Carden Samuelson of Duncombe will celebrate her 80th birthday on May 16 with a card shower.

Schwieger, Keller to wed
Amanda Schwieger of Williams and Andy Keller of Alton, have announced their engagement and plans to marry in May.
Parents of the couple are Brad and Dawn Schwieger of Williams and Pastor Bill and Julie Keller of Blairsburg.

Scholarships
Nick Oberender of Webster City and Carlton Ness of Jewell, have each been selected to receive a Weldon Tapper Memorial Scholarship.
4-H’ers help hunger project
Three Hamilton County 4-H Clubs recently combined to conduct two Main Street Kiwanis club sponsored Kids Against Hunger packaging sessions in which a total of 5184 meals were packaged at The Bridge.
