A tradition of fine dining
Scott and Candy Rector
The 1980s were a difficult time for the country with the farm crisis in full swing, businesses struggling and interest rates soaring. It was into that environment that Candy and Scott Rector decided to open a restaurant in Downtown Webster City. The Rectors recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of their restaurant, The Second Street Emporium. The Rectors first opened a single storefront restaurant in 1980. Not long after, they added the Quarry Room, a party room in the basement of the restaurant. A few years later, they purchased the building to the west, and opened up the two spaces to add more seating and an additional party room. "We keep the party rooms busy with business meetings, area clubs and organizations that hold lunch or dinner meetings, and of course for birthday and anniversary parties," said Scott. One constant for the past 30 years has been the Rectors themselves.
