Public meeting on NEH building proposal Thursday

BLAIRSBURG - Northeast Hamilton residents will have a chance to learn more about the proposed building project and bond issue, especially financial information, at a Community Informational Meeting before the bond issue goes up for vote on September 9.

The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 28, at 7:00 p.m., was set by the Northeast Hamilton school board at their August meeting.

The bond referendum will be included on the ballot of the school board election. Director Districts #1 and #2 are up for re-election. Incumbent Kathy Pruismann is running unopposed for director of District #1, while board president Jan Heiden, the current District #2 Director will be retiring at the end of this term.

Other business included approval of district goals for 2008-09, along with school board goals for the district.

The board agreed with the NEH Awards Recognition Guidelines that:

any trophy earned at any level will be displayed in a trophy case

Any banner given by IHGAU of IHSAA will be hung in the gym. Generally this is done for team state participation or higher.

Individuals and teams will be honored with a picture in the common for any award above conference.

Also, the athletic department will purchase any state participation banners from 1962/63 that are missing.

In personnel matters, the board approved hiring Dan Greenfield as the junior high football coach for this school year.

In other action, the board:

Approved two open enrollment requests into the district for the current school year.

Approved trading in the riding mower currently in use toward the purchase of a new John Deere mower.

Approved purchasing a radiant heating unit for the Ag Mechanics building from low bidder Webster City Heating/AC/Plumbing at a cost of $3,072, using PPEL funds.
