WEBSTER CITY - The honors continued to pour into the Northeast Hamilton volleyball program earlier this week when the Iowa Girls Coaches Association released its all-district and all-state teams.
After a 20-6 season in which they climbed into the Class 1A top 10 for the first time in school history, the Trojets picked up all-North Central District accolades for seniors Holly Heiden, Summer Anderson and Adessa Jass. Heiden was also the recipient of an honorable mention all-state award.
Earlier this month, all three picked up all-conference honors from the Iowa Star Conference, which boasted a pair of 1A state qualifiers in Don Bosco - a member of the final four - and Tripoli - the state champion for a second straight season. Heiden and Anderson were first-team members and Jass was named to the second-team.
Heiden, a middle hitter, capped off her stellar career with a team-high 273 kills in 2009. Anderson, an outside hitter, was right behind Heiden with 193 kills and she also led the team in service aces with 43 and was second in digs with 149. Jass, a setter, doled out 622 assists and she walked off the court as the program's all-time assists leader.
All three seniors were four-year varsity starters.
Tripoli sophomore Megan Gilbert was chosen as the 1A Player of the Year by the IGCA. The outside hitter was named the captain of the 1A state tournament all-tournament team as well.
Gilbert was joined by teammates Marissa Shinstine and Micah Wedemeier on the 1A all-state first-team. Tripoli's Kalie Kirchoff was on the second-team, as were Janesville's Olivia Fisher and Don Bosco's Abby Breitbach.
