Ronald Doyle, 76, Ames

Ronald Carrol Doyle "Slim," 76, of Ames, died Friday, Feb. 5 at home. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Adams Funeral Home. Memorial Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 at Adams Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter.

Ronald was born Sept. 30, 1933 in Williams to Leslie and Lila (Ricke) Doyle. He graduated from Williams High School in 1951 and worked as a welder for Ideal Beverage Co. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He married Evelyn (Hoversten) Kinstle in 1956. He married JoAnne Sly on June 14, 1999. Slim enjoyed woodworking, gardening, canning, fishing, and mushroom hunting, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

He is survived by six children, Darcy (Dan) Layman, Deanna (Tim) Meeker, Bruce (Carla) Doyle, Bradley (Carol) Doyle, Lana (Lee) Keppeler, and Lisa (Ken "Woody") Woodley; two sisters, Colleen Dagit and Janice (George) Bettenga; twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren; two nieces; four nephews and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnne in 2007; and great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Doyle in 2007.

Memorial donations may be made to the family.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
