A new business is coming to Webster City and will join a growing number of stores and restaurants to locate on the south side of the community, near the junction of U.S. Highways 20 and 17.
Select Communications, based out of Minnesota, is poised to open a Verizon Wireless premium retail store on Monday. The business is located between Pizza Hut and the Grand Shanghai Buffet.
"We're very excited about this new store," said Pat Macke, regional manager for Select Communications. "We're excited about this location, too."
"We're very bullish about our products. When new products come out, we have them," Macke said.
Macke said the store will have Verizon's full range of phones, including of a large selection of many brands of cell phones and smart phones. Store personnel will also be able to help customers select the best calling plans for their needs.
John Mattson, the store manager, said the business will also offer Internet resources for customers.
"We're not just wireless phones, we also have Internet solutions," he said.
Mattson said customers would be pleased with the Verizon network.
"Verizon's network is phenomenal and it has a standard behind it. It's the strongest network available, " he said.
Select Communications has opened four other stores in the state - Charles City, Osage, Algona and Forest City. In October of 2009, Macke said Select Communications was approached by Verizon to take over three more corporate stores, located in Storm Lake, Estherville and Arnolds Park.
"These have all been great locations and great communities," Macke said. "We've become the wireless spot in those communities.
"We know Webster City is going to be another great location for us and we look forward to meeting people and getting to know the community," he said.
Macke said customer service is very important to the business.
"You may not know everything there is to know about your new phone, but before you leave our store, you will have e-mail setup, Facebook and other basics on that phone," he said. "Then we're going to make follow-up calls to make sure everything is working right for you," Macke said. "We don't want you to have this great new phone and not know how to use it."
"And now customers will have someone locally who will spend all the time they need to help them get comfortable with that phone," he added.
The store hold a soft opening on Thursday and Friday by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. To make an appointment, call Mattson at (641) 590-5927.
"This will give people a one-on-one chance to visit with us, learn more about the products, and it will give us a chance to test out our system," Macke said. Appointments are open to new or existing customers, he added.
The doors will officially open for regular business on Monday. A?ribbon cutting is also planned for next week.
